New Year's Resolution...

To do more studies of BGs and various other paintings. Starting mainly with old HB and working my way into other things.

These are a mix of speed studies (30 min or less) and longer, more detailed ones. All done in Photoshop. The more time I spend with the image the better the color and technique seem to sink in.

Many more to come.

HB Study

This one was fun and a lot quicker than the pan below. I decided to fix the angle on the front step to better match the perspective on the house interior and did the same with the lines on the house siding. It would have been much easier to do every line perfect, but for the sake of trying to really make this look like real paint, I went back and purposely made some edges imperfect.

Btw, I'm just eyeballing the color, not selecting it from the original image. That's why you'll see a slight variation.

Donald's Diary Study

Study of the park BG from Donald's Diary. I wasn't concerned with getting every proportion exact, but I was trying to closely replicate the real paint techniques in Photoshop. I'll be doing these more regularly.

Howie Post Study - Hierarchy

I was inspired by John K's post and had to try my hand at this. Howie Post kicked my ass. I'm amazed by his organization and handling of all these elements... in particular his use of subtle S curves in the trees.

Conclusion - not close enough.
